His new Netflix documentary series, Trigger Warning, goes to incredible lengths imagining what could be done if he truly had his way. As Donald Glover does with his FX show AtlantaKiller Mike uses his pointed wit and wild imagination to shed new light on bizarre, hard truths about being an American. Below, we talked to him about the series. Some of your fellow executive producers, like Daniel Weidenfeldpreviously worked on Adult Swim programs — and you can tell from the tone of Trigger Warning. Why did it make sense to partner with them? Well, the tone of the show is literally my personality, and Daniel and I have been friends for 12, 13 years.

The «Boozies,» for example, consisted of brothers and their friends who engaged in prostitution, theft and forgery. As the ‘s approached, black gangs were beginning to grow in numbers. Gangs including the «Purple Hearts,» «31st Street,» and «28th Street» emerged in this decade, and their activities were very similar to those of gangs in the 20’s and 30’s. In addition to theft, prostitution and forgery, gangs of the ‘s were involved in extortion and gambling. The activities of the gangs remained the same in relation to previous decades. Any conflicts that did arise between gangs occurred when rival gang members found themselves in an enemy’s territory.
The documentary focuses on the external factors that caused African-American youth to turn to gangs and questions the political and law enforcement response to the rise of gang culture. Bo Taylor : He is former Schoolyard Crip and the founder of Unity One , a privately funded organization dedicated to peacemaking and the transformation of gang members into productive citizens. Skipp, Nikko and Bow Wow: Former Bloods and Crips members that join together as a part of Unity One , working to help active gang members make a better living and make the transformation they need. The mission of the foundation is to help provide life management skills and resources to at-risk youth and has been doing so for more than 20 years.

Matthew Crazy Case Vick, a member of a black street gang in Long Beach called the Insane Crips, moved here three years ago to live with his grandmother and straighten out his life. But the pattern of crime and violence that began for Vick in Southern California followed him across the Rocky Mountains, where he helped found a gang called the Rolling 30 Crips.
